Ubisoft, the game developer behind
the popular Assassin's Creed franchise,
announced on Tuesday that its servers have been
hacked by an unknown party and that an undisclosed number of its users' accounts have been compromised. The company said that some user data "had been illegally accessed from our account database, including user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords," although thankfully users' credit card and payment information were not exposed.
Ubisoft recommends that its users change their passwords both for their
Ubisoft accounts and for "any other Web site or service where you use the same or a similar password."
